Chairman’s Message

I’m A Born Again McCainiac

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. What happens in Florida changes the world. On January 29, 2008 Florida announced to the world that John McCain would be the 44th President of the United States of America . On February 5th, Super Tuesday, the world got the message. And yet, so many of my Conservative Republican friends, from Rush and Ann nationally to George and John locally see this as impending doom. Allow me to differ.

There is no candidate in either party remotely close to John McCain as a Commander In Chief. Senator McCain has been to hell and back, and the terrorists know it. It’s easy to imagine President McCain giving the order to send up the planes and then returning to sleep in classic Reaganesque form.

Arguably our biggest short term fiscal problem is runaway spending; from earmarks to entitlements, from farm subsidies to the corn ethanol boondoggle. Nobody will take a bigger whack out of the budget than John McCain. And he knows where all the bodies are buried.

John McCain is pro life; yesterday, today and tomorrow. This is not a minor point.

John McCain will pick a running mate (President in waiting) who is younger and Righter than himself. Neither Ronald Reagan nor George W. Bush succeeded at that.

And John McCain has a secret weapon, us. We are not Democrats, always following the party line in the interest of power. No, we are Conservatives and patriots first, following our party so long as our party follows our principles and the Constitution. That’s why today there is no Justice Harriet Miers ruling in favor of Amnesty for illegals.

Some say John McCain is the death of the modern Republican Party. I say he is our savior. Why? Because John McCain will win. And that means eight years of terrorists on the run, fiscal sanity and Supreme Court Justices who have actually read the Constitution. Without John McCain it’s eight years of debilitating Socialism. The Universal Health Care Scheme and the Clinton/Rangle trillion dollar tax increase will make our country unrecognizable. Not even a reincarnated Ronald Reagan would be able to rebuild that Humpty Dumpty America . Margaret Thatcher could not end the National Health Service and Nicolas Sarkozy will not privatize the trains. The Republican Party as we know it would be gone, replaced by “Tories,” tilting at the unstoppable welfare state as it daily saps our national will.

John McCain was not my first choice. But now he’s my only choice. I’m a Born again McCainiac – and you should be too.
